Covid: The Impossible Year

This project's creation and topic was based on the lovely current events of our time. For me as for most people, quarantine for the last 7 months or so has been anything but entertaining or enjoyable. So I thought for this project why not poke fun as well as laugh through the annoyance of how long and irritating this quarantine has been. And why not do that using one of my middle school favorites, Panic! At the Disco. It was very entertaining to create the lyrics, at least in my opinion. I called an old friend at 2 a.m. who was almost as "edgy" and "emo" as I was in middle school, therefore we had the same music taste. In the end we laughed about the idiocy of younger us hating the world while also creating lyrics to Impossible Year.

The project throughout was interesting, both positively and negatively. It taught me a new skill which is always great, now I know how to remove vocals and use Pro Tools which I was not aware of what it could do before. However, with certain steps it became irritating for me such as turning on and off the bypass. Also another thing in this project which I found rather difficult was writing this statement. This week my brain has gifted me with the utmost writers block. Making it extremely difficult for my writing to have any sort of flow to it. Figuring out how to structure this statement without having my writing seem too dry and sarcastic, or too chunky due to the lack of flow in my writing this week.

Overall I would say that even though some parts of this project were aggravating or challenging, it helped me grow as an artist and be able to create things that I before would not have known how to do properly.
